About

I love meat, but in 2011 I became dismayed at what I saw to be my ‘meat-debt’. Too little offal has been consumed and as an aspirant ethical carnivore I wanted to put this right. So for the duration of 2012, I am setting myself the challenge of eating only offal, game and fishes rated 1 and 2 by the Marine Conservation Trust. I am teaching myself to question more where my meat comes from and to learn to cook a wide variety of new meats. I’m excited and feel trepidatious, all advice is gratefully received.

Thank you for having a read, let me know if you copy any of this cooking.

With an offal lot of love,

Lucy

P.S. The offal journey ended in 2012, thank you so much for all your support along the way.

Hi Lucy – I came across your site and wondered if you could help me. I’m looking for a restaurant or supermarket where you can buy blood pancakes (like the ones you made, but ready to eat!). Have you found anywhere on your travels? thanks Kristie

I’ve never seen them for sale 😦 I know you can buy them ready made in Scandinavia, but that ikea doesn’t stock them. You might want to ask on an expat forum for Finnish people living over here? With Scandinavia becoming so trendy I’m sure there’ll soon be Scandi-delis everywhere. If you like I can post you some of my dried blod and you can have a go yourself for free? Happy Hunting, of you want some blood, drop me an email to lajmoore at hotmail dot co dot uk

Hi Lucy – I’ve just come across your site and wondered how you might feel about doing a piece for a women’s magazine? I know you’ve appeared in the Sun but a magazine feature might be a good way to reach out to a different audience. I’m a features writer and would love to get in touch. Let me know! x

    Hi Lucy,

I am a recent design graduate based in Leeds and I am currently beginning an illustration project about food waste in Britain, particularly concerning the meat industry. I am planning on submitting the work to an exhibition of protest artwork and thought this could be a really fun and exciting way to encourage people to do more nose to tail eating. I am a huge food lover myself and recently signed up to Foodie Penpals as a result of reading your blog.

I was just wondering if it would be possible to hear your thoughts on this or maybe to see if you feel any aspect of nose to tail eating especially should be promoted?

Hope to hear from you soon!

    Regards,

    Katie

Hi! My name is Sue, and I’m from SlimKicker, a fitness/diet app and online website. I saw your blog a few days ago and it captured my interest!

I’m contacting you b/c we’re about to release a fitness tracker (similar to FitBit) early next year, and are looking for bloggers who would be interested in getting 1 for free to review when it is out (negative or positive).

Would you be interested in doing this? You can email me at: sue (at) slimkicker (com) with ‘Review’ in the email heading if you are.

Just to let you know, our online website SlimKicker basically turns your fitness/diet goals into a level up game. The tracker will work with the website, and allow people to track calories burned and number of steps they walk automatically. The more they exercise, the more points they rack up! That’s basically how it will work.

Anyway, hope to hear back either way…

    – Sue
